Artevelde University College Ghent has become a byword for the largest Journalism study programme in the greatest student city in Flanders. The Bachelor of Journalism is an active, comprehensive programme which focusses on the professional field. From the very start, students are immersed in the journalistic world. They acquire basic general knowledge and at the same time receive thorough practical training. In the course unit Cross-Media Projects, students are introduced to all kinds of media and the focus is on the various professional roles in journalism (researcher, copywriter, storyteller, digital creative…). This sophisticated approach is what makes our curriculum unique in Flanders.

This knowledge is improved upon in the second and third year. We turn students into online journalists with a distinct digital profile, who choose how they want to profile themselves (via text, audio or video) and who can fully immerse themselves in their interests (sports, politics, fashion, film…) using the SelfLAB. The journalistic gems they create are posted on www.voetweg66.be, the multimedia news portal of the programme. With creative weeks, guest lecturers, domestic and foreign internships and so much more, we prepare students for their transition to the most beautiful profession in the world.
